The Iowa DNR will release trout into Discovery Pond. Trout stamps are required. All Iowa fishing rules and regulations apply.

Come and see what lives in a pond. We値l visit a pond and look for creatures who live there using pond nets and observation containers. Bring a pond net if you have one.

 

37th Annual Kids Fishing Seminar

Saturday, June 3, 9:00-10:45 am

Discovery Pond in Discovery Park

Geared toward K-5th graders, but all ages welcome

Free, but preregistration requested, registration forms available beginning May 15

Come learn the basics of fishing. This annual event is geared toward elementary-aged kids, but all ages are welcome. The first 75 kids in K-5th grades who preregister and attend the seminar will receive a T-shirt. All participants will receive tackle packets and be eligible for door prizes.

Free, registration opens immediately after the Fishing Seminar

Come to the Kids Fishing Seminar first, then put your newfound fishing knowledge to use and participate in the Fishing Derby. Prizes will be awarded in several categories and age groups.

Summer Nature Camps - General Information

  • Pre-registration is required. Download 2017 Summer Camp Registration Form
  • All camps must have a minimum of 8 participants to be held
  • Optional Nature Camp T-shirts are available for $7 if registration is received by May 19
  • No refunds are given unless the camp is cancelled
  • Wear old clothes that can get wet and muddy
  • Wear old shoes that can get wet and muddy - NO FLIP FLOPS - old sneakers work the best.
